Position Summary

The Education Officer will oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of education-related activities under the project. This includes school rehabilitation, temporary classroom construction, infrastructure improvements, and ensuring implementation quality in accordance with protection and inclusion standards. The role supports achieving project objectives effectively and efficiently in challenging humanitarian settings. 

Key Responsibilities

• Identify technical and educational needs in target schools and conduct necessary field assessments.
• Develop engineering designs, bills of quantities (BoQs), and technical specifications for construction, rehabilitation, or school expansion.
• Prepare detailed work plans, timelines, and budgets for engineering and educational activities.
• Supervise daily field execution of engineering works (construction, maintenance, rehabilitation), ensuring compliance with technical and humanitarian standards.
• Monitor material quality and contractor performance; document all progress daily.
• Coordinate with project team, procurement, local authorities, and communities to ensure smooth activity implementation.
• Participate in procurement processes related to educational infrastructure from tender preparation to bid evaluation.
• Submit weekly and monthly technical reports, highlight challenges and achievements, and provide recommendations.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed on-site and train workers and teachers on safety protocols.
• Support education-related activities such as distribution of learning materials, classroom preparation, and recreational events.
• Document lessons learned, success stories, and best practices; contribute to future project proposals.
• Ensure integration of protection, inclusion, and disability considerations in all implementation phases.
• Willingness to undertake frequent field visits and operate in low-resource or difficult environments.
• Perform any other related tasks assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (additional qualifications in education or humanitarian project management are preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in engineering or education project implementation in humanitarian or development contexts, including at least 1 year in school projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D), and digital data collection tools like Kobo Toolbox.
• Demonstrated field supervision experience, BoQ preparation, and involvement in procurement processes.
• Fluency in English and Arabic (written, spoken, and reading).
• Strong skills in technical report writing, data analysis, and multi-stakeholder communication.
