Position Title: Health & Nutrition Field Coordinator
Location: Khanfar District, Abyan Governorate (Field-based)
Reports to: Health & Nutrition Program Coordinator / Project Manager
Contract Type: Full-time
Duration: 9 months
The National Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Response (NAHR) is a not-for-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) that was established June 2012 in Yemen. We aim to achieve our overall vision and mission by working to enhance local communities' development and stability through identifying structural causes of poverty, raising awareness, increasing access to basic services, and focusing on building citizens' capacities, especially women and youth, so as to enable their participation in the decision-making process that leads to sustainable development and a peaceful society within their developing and conflict-affected countries. NAHR aims to accomplish these goals through its seven core programs: Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL); Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH); Health and Nutrition; Education; Gender and Protection; Shelter and Non-food items (NFIs); and Peacebuilding and Governance.
In the process of recruitment, selection, and appointment NAHR implement a range of procedures and actions including Criminal Background Checks/ International vetting/Certificate of good conduct to ensure children and vulnerable adults are safeguarded and abuse is prevented.
NAHR has zero tolerance on sexual exploitation and abuse. This position will also be subject to robust reference and background screening checks.

1. Background
The Health & Nutrition Field Coordinator in Khanfar is responsible for the daily on-the-ground implementation, coordination, and quality assurance of the integrated health, nutrition, and protection intervention. This includes overseeing fixed health facilities (HFs), supervising community outreach components, managing field logistics, and ensuring the successful integration of Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) within the supported health structures in Khanfar district to deliver comprehensive, life-saving services.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Field Implementation & Integrated Services Oversight (Khanfar District)
- Supervise the daily operations of supported fixed Health Facilities in Khanfar to ensure the delivery of integrated health and nutrition services.
- Oversee the establishment and operational integration of Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) within or alongside the supported health facilities in the district, ensuring smooth referral pathways between health and protection actors.
- Ensure all clinical protocols and guidelines (including CMAM, IMCI, Reproductive Health, and NCD management) are strictly adhered to by field health workers.
- Monitor the establishment and functionality of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) mechanisms, safe medical waste management systems, and WASH maintenance/rehabilitation works within the targeted health facilities.
2. Training Coordination & Capacity Building
- Coordinate, facilitate, and monitor the delivery of high-quality technical field trainings for nutrition and health workers in Khanfar, specifically covering:
- High-risk Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) management.
- Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN).
- Preventive Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
- The 5 Key Messages of the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI).
- Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).
- Supervise the recruitment, deployment, and routine activities of Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) and Community Health Workers (CHWs), ensuring they are equipped with required community outreach and visibility materials.
3. Supply Chain, Logistics & Asset Management
- Coordinate the timely distribution of medicines, medical consumables, and project supplies from the field warehouse to the respective health facilities and MHTs across Khanfar.
- Monitor field warehouse conditions, ensuring proper storage standards are maintained by the storekeeper, including temperature control (ACs), safety (firefighting equipment), and appropriate layout (pallets/shelving).
- Manage vehicle rentals allocated for field operations, technical supervisions, and team movements, ensuring efficient resource allocation and tracking.
4. Coordination, Monitoring & Community Mediation
- Facilitate and actively participate in joint supportive supervision and monitoring visits with representatives from the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MoPHP), Governorate Health Office (GHO - Abyan), and District Health Office (DHO - Khanfar).
- Conduct regular field tracking visits alongside Programming and M&E staff to audit project performance, data accuracy, and beneficiary satisfaction.
- Maintain excellent working relations with local community leaders, DHO directors, and health facility managers in Khanfar. Act as the primary focal point to resolve field bottlenecks, security challenges, or community-level issues through proactive community mediation.
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Consolidate, verify, and review weekly and monthly statistical reports (including CMAM databases, morbidity data, outreach logs, and protection integration indicators) from all field sites in Khanfar before submission to the Program Coordinator.
- Document project milestones, operational challenges, lessons learned, and human-interest stories from the field.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: University degree in Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Nutrition, or a closely related medical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in coordinating emergency health and nutrition projects in humanitarian settings, preferably with experience in Abyan Governorate or similar contexts.
- Technical Knowledge: Proven familiarity with CMAM, IMCI, IPC standards, and integrated health-protection programming (such as WGSS operational guidelines).
- Skills: Strong field coordination, team management, and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated capacity to negotiate and mediate with local authorities, stakeholders, and community members under pressure.
- Languages: Fluency in Arabic and professional proficiency in English (both written and spoken) for reporting and technical communications.
- IT Skills: Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and mobile data collection tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox).
