Background

The Society for Humanitarian Solidarity (SHS) is a nonprofit humanitarian NGO based in the in Aden, Yemen. It was founded in 1995.The SHS provides assistance to refugees and migrants who arrive in Yemen every year. The organization also assists the local community in Yemen. The NGO won the Nansen Refugee Award, dedicated by the UNCHR. SHS has partnerships with UNCHR, OCHA, and WFP.

Society for Humanitarian Solidarity (SHS) would like to announce that the following position is currently open for recruitment.
The Procurement Officer has a mandate and tasks of providing direct support to the Healthy Meals Pilot Project is an education sector intervention in line with WFP’s school feeding model. It is a freshly prepared meals in the targeted school daily to assist the project objective.

Procurement Officer will perform the following functions:

Procurement Officer Responsibilities:

• Overseeing and supervising employees and all activities of the purchasing department.
• Preparing plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies.
• Following and enforcing the company's procurement policies and procedures.
• Reviewing, comparing, analyzing, and approving products and services to be purchased.
• Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
• Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, etc.
• Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating contracts.
• Researching and evaluating prospective suppliers.
• The Procurement officer will be closely working with and reporting to the Project Manager

Procurement Officer Requirements:

• University  Degree in accounting, business management or a similar field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience as a Procurement Officer or in a similar position.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Supervisor and management experience.
• Attention to detail.
• The project is implemented in the targeted primary schools and early ECCD Early Childhood Care and Development (kindergarten in Dar’ saad)

Other Qualities:

• Prior experience as a Procurement Officer at Company
• Sound knowledge of procurement process and guidelines and ethics 
• Ability to handle and operate very dynamic and sensitive procurement of good and services through the School Feeding Health Meals 
• Strong communication, reliability and teamwork skills, trustful with integrity
