ADRA Yemen is undertaking programs in Yemen in the fields of health, nutrition, WASH, food security, livelihoods, and protection.

SUMMARY:

The Health and Nutrition Officer is responsible for implementing high-quality health and nutrition services, and contribute to the effective management of the health and nutrition actives in alignment with project objectives, budget, and timelines. Health and Nutrition Officer will direct and coordinate staff activities, managing financial and physical resources and ensuring the efficient scheduling and allocation of supplies. Additionally, the officer will oversee the introduction of new treatment protocols to enhance overall efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs Monitoring and evaluation responsibility for the Health Facilities that ADRA support 
• Directly supervise the health and nutrition teams in the supported Health Facility.
• Ensures the establishment and implementation of health and nutrition monitoring activities, and train staff in case detection and referral system.
• Supports nutrition team, ensure the smooth implementation of a CMAM, MAMI and SAM according to national guidelines.
• Drafts weekly and monthly reports as scheduled to the Health and Nutrition Coordinator.
• Assists in the development of monthly and quarterly work plans for activities and incoming expenditures- Ensure timely reporting in of activities in accordance with set deadlines.
• Supervises and follows up with the Warehouse Keeper to submit a monthly inventory of the medicines in the health Facilities.
• In coordination with project pharmacist, monitor the pharmaceutical consumption and stock availability in ADRA’s and HF warehouse.
• Liaise and coordinate all health and nutrition activities with technical health offices in the governorates, including the Ministry of Health, ensuring compliance with guidelines and donor requirements.
• Closely monitor the health situation in targeted governorates, reporting any epidemics and providing necessary recommendations and plans to management and technical leaders.
• Coordinate and liaise all health and nutrition training for the HWs, MW, CHNVs and CMs at the governorate or project scope level.
• Track all H&N activities progress, compare it with the ITT and correct any deviations.
• Ensure that all reports received from the field/ HFs are reviewed and submitted on time.
• Performs other relevant duties and responsibilities required and requested by the Program. 
• Adhere to the organization’s safeguarding framework, including Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), child protection, anti-harassment, and ethical conduct policies, ensuring alignment with international standards (e.g., Core Humanitarian Standard, UN CRC).
• Promptly report safeguarding concerns or violations through designated channels, maintain confidentiality, and participate in mandatory safeguarding training to uphold a safe, inclusive environment for all stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Bachelor's Degree in health & nutrition or equivalent; (nursing, midwifery, and other Medical qualifications desirable) from any recognized institution.
• Demonstrated experience in health/nutrition programming with at least 3 years of experience in health/nutrition or related field.
• Ability to work long hours, often under pressure
• Good practical skills
• Basic computer skills including elementary keyboard knowledge
