Position: Media, Design and Communication Officer
Location: Aden, with frequent field visits
Duration: Until Dec 31st, renewable annually based on budget and performance
Reports to: Grants and Reporting Coordinator

About Action For Humanity (AFH):

Action For Humanity International is a non-governmental organization dedicated to providing humanitarian aid, advocating for social justice, and promoting sustainable development in Yemen and globally. Since our work started in 2019, AFH has addressed urgent humanitarian crises while working toward long-term, community-focused solutions.

Our work focuses on development and sustainability, with linkages to the government and institutional levels including in the field of Food Security, Economic Recovery, Education, WASH and Protection.

Position Summary:

The Media, Design and Communication Officer will play a key role in strengthening AFH’s
visibility, documentation, and storytelling. This role supports the organization’s internal and external communication efforts by creating high-quality, impactful content that reflects AFH’s activities, aligns with donor expectations, and resonates with key audiences. Responsibilities include multimedia documentation, story development, content design, and the organization and archiving of communication materials.

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Media Documentation and Coverage

1.    Document project activities across all phases: assessment, implementation, and completion.
2.    Develop and maintain a media coverage plan aligned with project timelines and deliverables.
3.    Capture professional-quality photos, videos, and b-roll footage, ensuring alignment with both donor and AFH branding and communication standards.
4.    Provide appropriate captions, subtitles, and translations for multimedia content as required.

2.    Human-Interest Storytelling

1.    Identify and document compelling stories from program beneficiaries to support fundraising, reporting, and advocacy efforts.
2.    Produce human-interest stories in written, photo, and video formats that highlight impact, challenges, and personal experiences.
3.    Draft narrative stories using AFH’s approved templates and tone of voice.

3.    Graphic Design and Promotional Content

1.    Design visual materials such as banners, posters, vouchers, leaflets, and other promotional assets as needed.
2.    Participate in project kick-off meetings to understand communication and design requirements.
3.    Ensure all designs adhere to AFH branding and donor guidelines.

4.    Media Management and Archiving

1.    Establish and maintain a structured system for archiving photos, videos, and design files, following AFH’s digital asset management protocols.
2.    Save all raw materials, including project-specific video files (e.g., Premiere Pro formats) and b-roll, for future use and editing.

Qualifications and Requirements:

1.    Proven experience in photography, videography, and content creation.
2.    Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator) or similar editing tools.
3.    Strong storytelling and writing skills, particularly in drafting human-interest narratives.
4.    Experience in humanitarian or nonprofit communications is an asset.
5.    Ability to travel to field locations, sometimes in difficult conditions.
6.    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
7.    Fluency in Arabic and English is essential.
